Visiting the Wedgewood factory
On the way up to Chorley we just couldn't resist calling in at the famous Wedgewood pottery factory. As it turns out you could spend the better part of a day here as it includes a museum, factory tour, film, and a hands on experience. As time was short for us we went through the museum and the tour but didn't have time to do any clay molding or painting ourselves. It was fascinating to appreciate all of the techniques and skills that have gradually been incorporated into Josiah Wedgewood's vision. It is also amazing that even today much of the craftsmanship is hand done by specialists and artists.
