Visiting the neoclassical Osterley House
Originally built as a Tudor house in 1576, it was changed to it's current Neoclassical design in 1760's by the famous architect Robert Adam. It took a few years and owners to complete the renovations, not to mention a lot of money. It was one of the most interesting houses we have visited to date, and we enjoyed the neoclassical style.
One interesting fact was that Batman The Dark Knight Rises was filmed in this house. If you watch the movie you will see the staircase, the grand entrance, the long room and the bookcase that opens into the bat cave. The whole house reminded us of the wedgewood pottery.
