Edinburgh Castle
Edinburgh castle was a fantastic place to visit. The oldest building was Saint Margret's Chapel built in 1100's by King David 1 for his mother who became a saint 100 years later. Alongside the chapel there was a large cannon called Mons Meg. A siege gun built by King James 2 for wars against the English in the 1400s. It fired cannon balls up to 2 miles away. The force of the explosion eventually burst the metal barrel in 1681.
Other interesting things at the castle included a tour of the Scottish royal jewels, a history of the kings of Scotland, the grand hall and a music presentation using olden day musical instruments. We stayed for about 4 hours and still didn't get to see everything on show. An absolute must see if you are ever visiting Scotland.
